Frijole, The Classic Bean Teardrop(2023 - )
Towing with my 2016 Honda Pilot, this sweet little teardrop fits in my garage! (#1 requirement), is fiberglass, about a foot more headroom than most teardrops, and features a 140w lightspeed solar panel.
Wanda, the ProMaster Conversion Van(2020-2023)
2019 Dodge ProMaster 2500 High Roof 159" Cargo Van
Wayfarer Vans 'Walt' Conversion Kit
Solar: 240w Renegy Panels
Battery: Inergy Apex Solar Generator
Fridge: IceCo jp50
Connectivity: Verizon Samsung Galaxy S10E Smartphone with Mobile HotSpot; Verizon Hot Spot, Asus T100A Notepad
The Second Trailer and Tow (2016-2020):
Named 'en Plein Aire': 2016 Escape 19 and redesigned 2016 Honda Pilot EXL-Navi
Of course, it was another Escape! This time the 19' and I went with all the bells and whistles! AC, microwave, electric jack, solar, and the list goes on. So easy with a custom built trailer to just keep adding 'one more thing'.
Solar:
150w panel mounted on the top of the trailer; 2 6v Golf cart type batteries on the trailer
Plus, for when I'm camping in the grey forested PNW, I had my old 85 Watt Panel and the 12v 95 amp hr AGM battery (in the back of the tow vehicle) for a little extra power.
After almost 4 years of full-timing, I bought a home in Tucson AZ. Sadly, the kind of traveling I expect to do in the next few years doesn't fit with a trailer.

The First Trailer(2006 - 2015)
The 'Greyt Escape': 2006 Escape 17B Molded Fiberglass Trailer and 2005 Honda Pilot EX-L,
I traveled over 28,000 miles with this trailer. I started out spending long weekends in full service campgrounds close to home and ended up spending up to 4 months at a time (95% dry camping) in the southwest.
Solar Setup: 85 Watt Mono-crystalline Panel (standalone or roof-mounted on tow vehicle, with 7-pin plug-in to the trailer); 10 amp power controller/regulator; 1 12v Interstate Deep-Cycle Battery, Group 27 and 1 12v 95 amp hr Interstate AGM battery (in the back of the tow vehicle).
Rainy Day Entertainment:
Naxa, 19" 12V/120 Flat Screen with internal DVD
Jack HD roof-mounted TV antenna
The Greyt Escape kept me safe and comfy for over 400 nights of camping.

I can't recommend this trailer more highly!!
Hi Anne. You and I met about a year ago when I toured your trailer with Donna and Kathie. I have been following your blog. I just bought a Honda Pilot and wanted to check in with you regarding how it is going as a tow vehicle.
ReplyDeleteVery jealous you are in warmer weather.
Thanks
Joan
