I took a few weekend trips over the summer. Oregon is just lovely in the summer! I have to take weekend trips because living in Portland is like living in a green tunnel.

Yachats - the moody coast
A friend relocated to Yachats this summer. What beautiful views and walks along the ocean.
Well, it's not Albuquerque - but BalloonFest in Bend, Or is still great fun
Bend has certainly grown up since the days (25 yrs ago!) when I'd spend part of the holidays skiing at Sunriver and going into the tiny town of Bend for live music and a beer in the evenings.
I think the total number of balloons attending was less than a dozen - but they made the most of the evening light shows and daily fly-outs.

The river has been transformed with multi-use paths, parks and restaurants along the banks, a fly-fishing practise course, and this whitewater practice area for surfing and kayaking.
